Your love and your grace are enough for me …
St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556) is the founder of the Society of Jesus, commonly known as the Jesuits. This is Pope Francis’ own spiritual family.
St. Ignatius has given much to the Church, including especially the “spiritual exercises” — a retreat program that leads the soul to come face-to-face with God and self, and choose to follow Christ.
As well, the saint has left the Church the following simple prayer, to enable us to give our whole selves to God, and remember that the only thing we really need in life is God Himself.
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.
